The Cube was designed by world renowned architect, Ken Shuttleworth, whose portfolio includes several globally famous buildings. Born and bred in Birmingham, his aim was to provide the city with a landmark building that would help define its essence on the world stage. Its striking and impressive exterior was inspired by Birmingham’s jewellery making and industrial heritage.

The Cube sits boldly alongside Ken Shuttleworth’s impressive portfolio comprising London’s 30 St Mary Axe building, known commonly as ‘The Gherkin’, Hong Kong & Shanghai Bank headquarters and 55 Baker Street – to name a few.

Ken Shuttleworth was appointed a CABE Commissioner in 2002, made a Chair of the CABE Design Review panel in 2004, and is Vice Chairman of the Crossrail Design Panel.
